Was at the Sidney Velo tonight and I always enjoy chatting to Willi Fahning. If you don't know who this is be ashamed and then look him up (http://members.shaw.ca/sidprop/aboutus.htm). So we get talking about the VCL series and riding in Vic and he asked my favourite race course...."well Newton Heights I like, no hiding there and just a true test of abilities. So hard."
"Oh yeah that is a good one, but that is the juniour to what we used to race around there..."
"Really, what was the old course?"
"Well, it was a road race. 12 laps Clock-wise beginning at Saanichton. West along Mount Newton X then up Thompson Place Climb (1.0km @ 11%) through Newton Heights, Right on East Saanich back to Saanichton and then right on Mount Newton X to repeat......"
"TWELVE TIMES!!?"
"Twelve times, steel bikes"
"Right on."
"At that time I was a Wheeler. We were strong."
"We will bring it back Willi."
Willi Style.
