VCL Caleb June 24/15

Six Wheelers made the line at Caleb this evening for a punchy A race that had the lactate flowing like Trevor's hair. With several big hitters from RH off to Nationals the race would be controlled by us and ProCity. To celebrate Saint Jean Baptiste day Monsieur LeBlanc got things going on the second lap with an early solo break. This move was a welcomed gift, so we thought, as Isaac drained his legs that little bit for 2 or 3 laps before being hauled back in. What ensued thereafter was a flurry of counters and counter counters for 5 or 6 laps before a break of Geoff, Rob (ProCity) and honorary Wheeler Matt Sharpe got something to stick. ProCity for the most part were unaware that Sharpe was acting on our behalf and were thus content with the break. The race was falling into our lap with two of three riders up the road. The group dangled 25-30s for 2 or so laps before Dawson informed Isaac that Matt was indeed riding for us. Once this was confirmed Isaac, MD, and Dr. Atwell set about bringing things back why myself and Stephane did our best to disrupt. Again, Isaac was forced to do a fair amount of work, race still going to plan. The remaining 5 or so laps were again filled with numerous attacks from McCartney, Stephane, Tyler (RH), myself and most notably Geoff on the bell lap. All were to no avail though and the race would be decided with a sprint where things took a right 'Gone Girl' twist when Issac began leading it out!? All race, ProCity had Hui sit in as their back-pocket punch for the win and this is exactly what unfolded with Alex taking the Win decisively. Well played. The Curse of the Bambino lives on for the Wheelers.
